Haint Blue Conjure Soap

Haint Blue is a common sight here in the South. The shade differs from a light robin egg blue to what we call Lowcountry indigo to a greenish blue tint.

We often take it for granted here as it is so common, but it is nothing to be taken lightly, so this soap is my homage to this tradition. Scented with Cypress and Van Van Oil, mainly comprised of Lemongrass, and my own shade of indigo haint blue. Topped with Cornflowers and Southern Spanish Moss. I’m in love with this soap!

These beautiful blue porch ceilings, shutters, doors and windowsills originated with the Gullah-Geechee folks and not a byproduct of the “coastal living” trend as some would have you believe. It is not cottage core, it is spiritual. So I take this opportunity to give credit to where it is rightly due.

As the story goes, blue represents the sky and water and Spirits have an aversion to this. Blue wards off evil spirits and keeps them from entering the home.

Same concept as the bottle tree. Another Southern tradition. I have 3 myself, one of which I included in the photos here. Hanging bottles from trees or the making a bottle tree traps them and they are diminished when the morning sun hits the bottle.

The scent: This soap has a top note of Lemongrass backed with warm and fresh Southern Cypress. Smells just like my Louisiana Hoodoo Anointing Oil loaded with Van Van!

Weight: Each bar weighs approx. 4.5 - 5 oz.
Size: Approx. 2.5” x 3.5”. Due to the handmade, hand cut nature, size and weight may vary slightly.

About my soaps: All my soaps are made using the cold process method. Cold process soap is made with lye. Lye is a natural ingredient made from wood ash. Once the soap has gone through the saponification process, which turns oils and lye into soap, there is no lye present in the cured, finished bar.

Handmade in small batches.
After the soap is made and cut into bars by hand, the leftover ends and pieces are used for samples, so none is wasted.

This handcrafted soap contains:
Saponified Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Castor Oil.
Essential Oils of Cypress & Lemongrass.
With the addition of Indigo, Cambrian Blue Clay & Herbal Toppings.
